The first time I saw a PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) parked in my neighbor’s driveway I thought it was one of the best ideas I had seen in ten years. Total storage flexibility. They can leave it in your driveway for a few days, weeks or months and you don’t have to go through the hassle of renting a truck and pestering your friends to help you move stuff. Plus, if there is something in the portable self storage unit you discover you need, it doesn’t require a trip across town.

These portable self storage boxes are a godsend for people who are moving to a new home which isn’t quite ready but have to get out of their old house because it is sold. Fill the portable self storage container like you would a U-Haul except the portable storage guys will come and get the portable storage box, move it to their facility then move it to your new house whenever you are ready.

PODS, since it is such a great idea, has spawned a wave of copycats. This is good. These bad boys do not come cheap and a bit of competition in the portable storage market will lower prices.
